I struggled to find the origin of this song but according to the YouTube video that it was featured on it was written by a chap from Manchester called Steve Garry. It's a neat addition to what I refer to as Northern English Industrial blues.

Lyrics

Written by Steve Garry

He loosens his tie it’s been a long hard day
She’s reading the signs she’s staying out of his way
She knows things aren’t easy, times are hard these days
But it’s no life at all, just wishing your life away

He fixes a drink, he’s feeling old, he’s feeling tired
Most things these days just leave him uninspired
He says he’s Ok but she knows that he’s a liar
There’s a smile on his lips but his eyes are on fire.

CHORUS
He knows the feeling, he’s been here before
It ain’t nothing but the blues, that’s all.
It’s leaving him reeling, flat out on the floor,
It’s nothing but the blues that’s all.

INSTRUMENTAL

He won’t take TV, the press or the radio
The cynic within says he knows all he needs to know
And he’s traveling somewhere but the journey’s too slow
So he howls at the moon and the kids, and well, that’s how it goes.

CHORUS
He knows the feeling, he’s been here before
It ain’t nothing but the blues, that’s all.
It’s leaving him reeling, flat out on the floor,
It’s nothing but the blues, nothing but the blues
It’s nothing but the blues, that’s all.
He knows the feeling, he’s been here before
It ain’t nothing but the blues, that’s all.
It’s leaving him reeling, flat out on the floor,
It’s nothing but the blues, nothing but the blues
It’s nothing but the blues that’s all
It’s nothing but the blues, nothing but the blues
It’s nothing but the blues, that’s all
That’s all
That’s a-a-all.
